November
This month we are learning that love in its fullest form gives of itself and helps with compassion. Thus, the devotion of friends, family, and even servicemen of our country is evident in their sacrifice.
Here are a few samples of our writing work this month. We discussed that love in its fullest form gives of itself and sacrifices. It is not selfish, but always hopeful, patient and kind. It puts others needs first.
We see this love displayed in the actions of our Veterans which is why we honor them. Students listened and wrote how friends display love and sacrifice, using evidence from the story "Duck." Students discussed that we celebrate Thanksgiving to remember the sacrifice the Pilgrims made in coming to America and the courage and kindness shown from the Wampanoag Indians. Students shared their holiday traditions and what they are thankful for. |

This class was given fifteen minutes to write a stoplight paragraph to demonstrate which American symbol was their favorite and why. These are their results. Please bear in mind, that students at this age spell things how they sound, phonetically. Daily they are gaining strength and practice in acquiring new sight word skills and use of language conventions.
